Who publishes this website?

This website is published by Lancing Ltd, a UK supplier of filling, capping, labelling, processing, conveying and complete packaging-line equipment. Lancing supports individual machinery projects and integrated systems from its base in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Application-led selection

Recommendations begin with product behaviour, packaging, process conditions, output and site constraints.

Representative trials

Products and packs can be assessed where application risk needs to be proven before final specification.

UK engineering support

Projects can include installation, commissioning, operator training, spares and ongoing support.

Complete-line scope

Filling can be coordinated with closing, labelling, coding, conveying and end-of-line handling.

How the guidance is prepared

Each guide is structured around the decisions that normally change equipment selection: product flow and inclusions, temperature, container opening and stability, closure or seal, label and code, cleaning, operator tasks, production schedule and sustained good-pack output.

Content is written to help a producer prepare a more complete machinery brief. It deliberately uses conditional language where performance depends on representative trials, packaging tolerances, process validation or site-specific engineering.

Last substantive update: 25 August 2026

New product and buyer-intent guides, internal linking, metadata, structured data, sitemap coverage and AI-search retrieval aids were added in this update.

What this guidance does not replace

The website does not replace a validated food-safety process, shelf-life assessment, packaging compatibility study, risk assessment, statutory compliance review or machine-specific operating instructions. Temperatures, dwell times, vacuum targets and preservation methods must be defined by the producer and relevant specialists for the actual recipe and pack.

  • Food-process and microbiological validation remain the producer’s responsibility.
  • Machine output and accuracy must be confirmed against an agreed application and acceptance test.
  • Guarding, hot-product protection, utilities and operator procedures must be reviewed for the installation site.
  • Packaging materials should be approved by the producer and intended suppliers.
